One of Ibsen's most impressive plays will be staged at the Švanda Theatre by director and artistic director Martin Františák. The main symbol of the play is a shot wild duck that lives in captivity in the attic of the Ekdal family's house. In the attic of the house, the family has created its own dream world. The wild bird with a shot wing and a broken leg symbolizes a sick society, a world of small material and spiritual conditions, but also the small "crippled" happiness of the Ekdal family. Their seemingly peaceful life is disrupted by the factory owner's son, who returns home after years. He decides to cleanse his friend's life of lies... The tragic fate of the wild duck is fulfilled. The family falls apart. The world that they have built for years with effort, care and love is destroyed in a single day.

The play thematizes the life's opposition between lies and truth and reflects on human smallness. Is it necessary to strive for a life of truth at all costs? Is truth above everything, even happiness?
