Villa in Kampa - U Sovových mlýnů 501/7, a seeming island of freedom in gusts of history. Formerly Dobrovsky, today Werich's villa. From 1945 until his death in 1980, Jan Werich, the "national clown and national rabbi," lived here. In 1948, half a year after the departure of Jiří Voskovec, the "black angel of poetry" Vladimír Holan moved here on the ground floor. Twenty years of coexistence between Hamlet and Falstaff. Exuberant parties and the innermost prayers. Three perpendicular meters, that was then the distance from one pole of Czech culture to another.
The performace won the Mark Ravenhill Award 2019. Miroslav Hanuš (for the role of Werich) and Luboš Veselý (for the role of Holan) appeared in a wider nomination for the Thalia Award 2020.
