The Homolka family - the cocksure grandfather, caring though unyielding grandmother, unassertive son Ludva, frustrated daughter-in-law Heduš and curious twins - goes on a nature outing to enjoy some fresh air. They are unexpectedly disturbed from their idyllic weekend and now it seems their day will be filled with petty quarrels and disputes. Will Sunday lunch fix their mood? And will Ludva take Heduš and the children to see the horse races? As we all know, families are meant to be together.

The comedy by screenwriter and director Jaroslav Papoušek from 1969 became popular not only thanks to its masterful dialogues, it also became a synonym for the Czech nature. Despite its sensitive humor, it has a satirical-critical subtext, which makes it a grotesque social probe into the core of the family. And family, obviously, is the foundation of society.
